Rope Rescue Operator – IC


The Rope Rescue Operator (RRO) course introduces the knowledge and skills required by personnel to operate safely and effectively during rope rescues and be an active part of a rope rescue team working under the supervision of Rope Rescue Technicians.

  • Climbing over a 90 degree edge
  • Passing knots whilst ascending/descending
  • Passing anchors whilst ascending/descending
  • Passing deviations whilst ascending/descending
  • Performing rope transfers/changeovers
  • Individual pick-offs
  • Connecting a casualty on a line using a telescopic pole
  • Lifting and lowering a casualty using a pre-installed device
  • Tensioning systems and basic mechanical advantage
  • Basic casualty care and packing
  • Team-based pick-off
  • Litter attending low angle
  • Rope-based raising and lowering systems
  • Litter attending high angle
  • Use of high directionals
  • Tagline offsets

Prerequisites

  • Prior experience of working with ropes is recommended
  • Minimum age: 18
